How to use the sheets at home

  1. Set a timer for 10 to 15 minutes. It's fine to finish only part of the sheet.
  2. Do each sum on a real abacus first. Later, try a few in your head.
  3. Mark the sheet together with the answer key on page 2.
  4. Redo each wrong sum slowly and say the friend rule out loud.

Which level should I print?

Worksheet levelSumsMatches abacus levels
Level 1Single digits, + and −Levels 1 to 2 (direct moves, small friends)
Level 2Two digits, + and −Levels 2 to 3 (small and big friends)
Level 3Three rows of two-digit numbersLevels 3 to 4 (mixed friends)
Level 4Two digits × one digitLevel 5 (multiplication)
Level 5Exact division by one digitLevel 6 (division)

Not sure where your child is? Start one level lower than you think. A sheet that feels easy builds speed; a sheet with many mistakes means it's time to slow down. See what each abacus level covers.
